 Abdullah bin Zayed visits Yad Vashem to commemorate Holocaust memorial in Israel

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has visited the Yad Vashem, the world Holocaust remembrance centre, which is the greatest source for Holocaust education, documentation and research.

Sheikh Abdullah was accompanied by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Omar Ghobash, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Cultural Affairs and Public Diplomacy; and Mohamed Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to Israel.

Upon their arrival, the Chairman of Yad Vashem Dani Dayan welcomed H.H. Sheikh Abdullah and the delegation.

Sheikh Abdullah was briefed on the centre, which was established in 1953 as a research and educational centre to commemorate the Holocaust. It includes museums, exhibitions, memorials, research and educational centres, in addition to libraries and archives.

The UAE Foreign Minister praised the role of this historical complex, which reflects the importance of working to promote and spread the values ​​of tolerance and coexistence among peoples, establishing peace, and supporting peoples’ aspirations for a decent life and prosperity.

His Highness stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen to play its role as a global beacon for spreading the values ​​of tolerance, coexistence and human brotherhood, as they ​​constitute the essential pillars for achieving sustainable development and prosperity in societies.

Sheikh Abdullah offered a tribute to the lives of the victims of the Holocaust, praising Yad Vashem’s eagerness to perpetuate their memory.
